The Bachelor's program in Accounting Sciences at Universidad Privada María Serrana aims to consolidate its positioning in the country, through excellence in academic, research and social outreach processes, providing qualified Public Accountants that meet the needs of society.

The Bachelor's program in Accounting Sciences at Universidad Privada María Serrana has as its purpose the generation and development of knowledge in Accounting, Financial and Legal fields, grounded in scientific, research and technological domains, to contribute to the training of competent professionals with a high social ethical and humanistic sense, protagonists of change in public and private organizations.

Research Lines of the Accounting Sciences and Auditing Program

The Accounting Sciences and Auditing program incorporates the following research lines with the purpose of guiding and promoting a research culture among students and faculty.

Financial Accounting, International Accounting and Capital Markets.

This research line covers the topics of financial accounting, costs, international accounting and finance.

Cost and Management Accounting.

This line will develop research projects oriented toward inventory evaluation and profit determination; the planning and control of business operations and decision-making; costs and returns of production factors and work centers; costs of finished or semi-finished products or services.

Auditing and Control

This line aims to strengthen the implementation of control models that guarantee that the services provided by accountants are developed with minimum quality standards, generating confidence among information users. This research line covers the topics of comprehensive auditing, control, fiscal oversight, good governance codes, quality auditing, reasonable assurance and international auditing standards.

Tax

This line guides research work aimed at the study of tax regulations, also addressing topics related to imports and exports and all those derived from free trade agreements signed by the nation with other countries; within this group are studies focused on the existing interaction between tax regulations and accounting and financial matters.

Public Accounting

This line seeks to deepen knowledge on the public accounting regime and the usefulness of information; procedure manuals and public accounting doctrine; the purpose of control, efficient management and transparency; public accounting from legal and conceptual perspectives, and its relationship with the public accounting regime oriented toward the usefulness of accounting information. Treatment of accounting documentation in the exercise of commerce; the budget as a planning and control tool.

Ethics and professional responsibility in accounting

This research line focuses on the development of projects on the exercise of the accounting profession and the challenges that arise regarding ethics and the performance of the accounting professional.
